With the knowledge we have gained in the last four years in electrical engineering at Notre Dame, we have embarked on a journey to create a system with the goal of improving the lives of those with disabilities and allowing them to participate in art therapy by using a joystick to control a paint brush.
The idea of the paint by joystick was first introduced by a local organization, ADEC. ADEC seeks to provide activities for individuals with developmental and physical disabilities. The clients of ADEC are of top priority when designing the paint by joystick system.
Our mission is to design a system that disabled persons may use as a form of art therapy. Through many iterations of design, we have come up with a system that is easy to use and will serve its purpose.
From Kansas to Maryland and everywhere in between, our team has come together across the United States to design this system. Each of our team members brings something unique to the table, allowing the design process to be exciting, efficient, and sometimes unpredictable.
